This butterfly was guarding the top of a large dune near Hauxley in Northumberland on 5.7.2012. 20120705.JPG I watched it for about 20 minutes as it repeatedly chased, and was chased by, a Red Admiral, presumably over territorial rights. Is this a Fritillary?
I spotted this butterfly on 3.8.2011 on the dunes near Hauxley in Northumberland.
I have tried to identify it using the UK butterflies and Butterfly Conservation websites, but to no avail.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
