Good advice Susie.it took me 2 hours to get to Denbies from just south of Dorking last year when they held the dry run for this particular event.Not fun at all.
Perhaps the butterflies would be good enough to move somewhere else for the duration.

After a weekend camping trip at sixpenny handley,we managed an hour at Martin Down before having to return to Berks for the school run.The sky was overcast and conditions didnt look favourable for my first ever DGF.Plenty of Meadow Brown,Ringlet and Marbled White flew around in Bokerley Ditch so i d...

Thanks Chris.I do normally keep an eye out in Sightings but hadnt checked today. I do recall reading on here somewhere or hearing somewhere that they were out already and thats what prompted my visit but the site doesnt look as promising as it did last year.im sure that they are found in quite a lar...

Took advantage of the break from rain and went to Chobham Common this morning on the off chance that the SSB had decided to emerge.Due to the lateness of the season so far i wasnt surprised that none made themselves visible.I did see meadow brown and small heath as well as what i thought was a hawk ...

My first visit to the site at Wrecclesham and i wasnt disappointed. I managed to find my way into the site without having to hurdle any fences or ignore any "danger " signs.I dont think people should be put off from coming to this site.my personal opinion is that the owners dont really car...

i visited hod hill on monday.there were plenty of marsh fritillaries on the wing,mainly in the south side ditch.also grizzled and dingy skipper in good number,adonis ,common and small blue too.

Took a flying visit to Bentley Wood tonight but only saw 6 butterflies :( A Speckie, A Grizzlie, a Dingy, a Pearl Bordered Frit, a Small Pearl Bordered Frit and a Marsh Fritillary! :D Have a goodun Wurzel I was at Bentley woods all day today,mainly looking for marsh frits.,without success...you jam...

(Common Heath, Mother Shipton and Burnet Companion often appear on the dyke and they do fly in quite a butterfly-like manner when disturbed).
Iv been reviewing my photos...common heath and mother shipton seen today too,

The female OTs have been more obliging for me so far :D .The males seem to be too busy to have their photos taken at the moment. :x :)

Has anyone been here in the last few years with regards to looking for PBF.
The parks own website lists them with the other commonly seen species and obviously they are mentioned on the site here..but is it worth a visit.?
