Re: Lulworth Skipper sites

Hi Andrew, Really appreciate your reply :-) I think we're planning a trip to Durlston so will definitely keep an eye out there. The Lulworth is the one I would most like to see, as far as I know there are a couple of sites fairly local to me in Swindon for Dukes so if I don't get them down there I'm...

Lulworth Skipper sites

Hi all, I'll be staying not far from Lulworth in Chaldon Herring as of this Saturday for one week. Are there any particular sites where I might see Lulworth Skipper? I appreciate it may be a little early but it's due to warm up a bit next week so I'm hopeful! Also can anyone recommend any sites near...

Re: Oman Butterfly IDs

Thank you very much both for your help on the IDs and for the links. I'm really gutted for not getting more photos and taken more note of the butterflies out there, was too busy looking after the kids!

Thanks again,

Nige

Local groups - Wiltshire

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, but are there any local groups\meetings in Wiltshire? I've just moved to Swindon :)

Thanks,

Good to see the Silver-spotted Skippers again, I'm hoping they'll be there next week :)

No Adonis Blues this time then?

White band on Gatekeeper

I was wondering if anyone could figure out what the white bar is on this Gatekeeper? I've not seen anything like it before, maybe human interference??

Re: Several IDs from Switzerland

An interesting collection of shots in that nearly all are common species plus…. Little Fritillary ( M. asteria ) – and a female?? – a rare and localised species. It is a very small butterfly (it doesn’t occur in France and I have never seen it, I may add) and this would have been apparent in the fi...

Re: Several IDs from Switzerland

Kool thanks for your help on that :)

I'm completely new to butterflies in general really, am slowly getting used to our UK ones, seems an easier task than Swiss :D

Re: Several IDs from Switzerland

The HTC in my name is actually from the church I go to, Hayes Town Chapel  I don't have an iPhone either unfortunately, but will look into those books you recommended, I will probably end up getting both :) With regards to the Pyrgus , it was taken up a mountain called Piz Scalottas. The mount...

Re: Several IDs from Switzerland

Hi Guy, Thank you very much!! I wish I'd taken more photos :( I will try and get more info about the 'provisionals' for you soon. I had a look at your site the other day, very useful indeed. Excellent detail and info so well done on that :) Will be referring back to it again if I ever go back to mai...

Several IDs from Switzerland

Hi all, Sorry I was wondering if someone could ID these few (15  ) butterflies from Switzerland. Mots taken around Thusis area, some up as high as 2300m. I so regrettably never bought a field guide before going, I never realised there were so many butterflies up the mountains!! I saw so many m...

Re: What to see in Norfolk in September?

Rob/Mike,

Thanks very much for the replies. I will keep my eyes peeled for anything fluttery! And next year make sure we book a holiday to Norfolk a bit earlier.

I will lookout for the Camberwell Beauty, that'll certainly be a nice surprise!!

What to see in Norfolk in September?

Hi all, I'll be heading to Norfolk for the first time at the beginning of September, any ideas what possible 'less common' species I might see (mind you I've only got 25 species so far so anything will be good) I guess it'll be too late for Swallowtail by then? Also any particular sites I could visi...
