Re: Winter social 2016

This was an event I would dearly liked to have attended, but as usual other things took precedent - my first grandson was over from Dublin for his first birthday and we all met up at the other garndson's who is just two weeks old

Didn't realise it was open yet, as it has not been posted to the forums - only on the home page and easily missed :D

Re: Essex or Small

No offence intended, I promise! No offence received Guy It is that I sometimes get a tad confused between the pair :) Hence the head on shot with the antennae tips for ID purposes At times I have taken Small who have very darkish tips Anyway, all resolved - many thanks for the swift response Adrian

Re: Spring 2015 Competition

The regular winners of these competitions tend to be photography experts who use butterflies to create an attractive finished product.
In my case nothing could be further from the truth

The photography is merely an extension of my love of wildlife and butterflies in particular

Re: Summer 2014 Competition

Congrats to the winners :)

Must have been difficult nailing it down to the last four from the cracking entries that were submitted

Also thanks to those, who as individuals, thought my female Common Blue was worth considering

Re: Barnack

Thanks for the reply Rosalyn

With The Deepings being in Lincs and Stamford too, I presumed wrongly that Barnack was as well

Might give it a whirl next weekend to see what's about
Last year was awesome

Barnack

Barnack near Stamford is a cracking site for Chalkhill Blues Can any one explain why it is not mentioned on any of the local Butterfly Conservation websites and also sightings Lincolnshire, which is the home county never mention it Neither do the adjacent sites of Beds & Northants, East Midlands...

Re: Annual 2013 Competition

•An entrant may submit up to 3 photos in total (and *not* 3 photos per category).
My error Pete, but it is a tad ambiguous
and *not* 3 photos per category

Re: Twywell Hills & Dales

Popped up this evening, after yesterday's awful weather and the Common Blues were about.
Not that many, but enough to give plenty of hope.
Came across a mating pair too,so there is hope for the future

Twywell Hills & Dales

Grizzled and Dingy Skippers in reasonable amounts, plus a good abundance of Green Hairstreaks.

Also Small Heaths about

Saw the first Common Blues (both males) this evening, though a couple of sightings reported yesterday
