The regular winners of these competitions tend to be photography experts who use butterflies to create an attractive finished product. You hit the nail on the head there David. Well done to Nigel for his 1st place,also well done to those who finished in the frame so to speak,my only little bit of critique is in my opinion the third placed image is clearly out of focus on the wing's,i am very surprised it made the frame,my personal favourite was Trev Sawyer's backlit Marble...

Answering Ian's question,most if not all of my butterfly images are taken very early in the morning,if you are at the known sites of your chosen butterfly your chance of finding a roosting subject is increased enormously,Nigel Kiteley and i have left home as early as 3am to get to certain sites for ...

Congratulations to all the winners,i would especially like to congratulate young Ben Kiteley,considering his age his images are amazing,(he does have a good teacher in his dad),as for me there is always another day lol,
