Re: Spring 2015 Competition

 Brilliant, I really appreciate the pointers Marek. You are absolutely right on all counts. I probably had better photos to post for the Spring competition. Its not easy being critical of your own photos. It is good to hear some honest criticism for a change...people can be very well mannered ...

Re: Spring 2015 Competition

To avoid ruining Czech-English international relations Hello Marek, I notice you had a side swipe at my effort as well....and I am no Englishman. We Scots are a canny bunch and take competition a little lighter than most. As a Scotsman I am over the moon to be given 5th place. Constant failure to w...

Re: Spring 2015 Competition

To avoid ruining Czech-English international relations, I will skip the whole touchy sour grapes thing and only comment on the bokeh and OOF areas debate. Anyone who's into photography for some time should know William's photo is technically worthless and actually hard to be positive about in any as...

Re: Spring 2015 Competition

Congratz to Kiteley gang of photographers who are above all again and looks like to me son even overcame his dad this time. Changing of guards time! :D Pic #4 is rubbish though and only belongs to the basket where would fit the best, to be frank. Absolute lack of sharpness and work with DOF, with IS...

Re: Marek (The Annoying Czech)

Seems like I successfully survived another winter time I do hate so much. Sometimes I went out with a fisheye. s tele tessarem v kapse.jpg I wasn't much an earner in my primary work but I started up a new business. Being a highly individualistic (and also probably problematic) person, as far as I ca...

As being my traditional Spring butterfly to shoot, I prefer this one from date I still had only one or two used lenses.

Re: Looking for a book(s) about Butterfly Gardening

Thank you. AFAIK, there is almost zero materials about in my language, so I have to look outside borders.

Be happy to see even more links here!

Looking for a book(s) about Butterfly Gardening

Hello, me and my colleague are planning to offer and popularize Butterfly Gardening theme in Czech Rep., so I'm searching for a publications, either online (various papers) or books - as much detailed and expert as possible. Euroepan only, as much respecting Central European conditions as possible, ...

Re: Marek (The Annoying Czech)

I received quite a lot private messages (consider this to be kind of a collective reply), so where to start. Sice I'm neither attentive reader nor touchy about identification, of course any Green Veined White wasn't a deal. That would be highly ridiculous. (In fact, I hardly remember circumstances o...

Since I don't agree with censorship applied on my personal diary without breaking any written rule and won't accept it any more, I'm leaving the forums for good.

The show is over.

I forgot to process one Apollo photo during Summer - the wildest one. jason cervenooky, 18.6.2014, stramberk.JPG And also one Peacock I don't even remember what it was made with. Apparently too many lens but it's gonna be worst. io (2).jpg Since I'm aiming on Helios 85mm (still in production, btw) t...

This butterfly is OK to common here, spreading. Somehow more tame than aglaja, so I shoot a couple of photos every year without much struggle. This one is my favourite.

Re: Dark Green Fritillary - Favourite Photo of 2014

My season's best Argynnis aglaja was captured at Malikov nad Nezarkou and later photographned at Novy Vojirov near Austria. Of course you don't know those places. You can't. They're both lying in the middle of nowhere hundreds of km far from you. After buttloads of tries to tame them during the dayt...

Re: Summer 2014 Competition

Fishiee, if you're talking about Large Wall Browns, it was taken with a 60 years old lens that cost me 29 Euros for a very average sharpness, weak MFD and lowest f possible at 5.5. So, there was really no intention to blind anyone with detail or sharpness, I just tried to make a "butterfly phot...

Re: Summer 2014 Competition

(With this post I'll probably make some enemies.) Honestly, quality of Summer comp. was generally a big letdown to me, since majority of photos struggles heavily with bokeh, lighting and background. How is that even possible after ass-kicing Spring with many tremendous work present, including one of...
