Blue conundrum
Could someone please ID these Blues, I think they're either Common or Adonis. We found them at Yoesden Bank last Sunday (6th), there were good numbers of both these species along with Chalkhill, Brown Argus and a solitary late Small Blue.
Thanks,
Nigel
Thanks,

Really saddening to see what's on that forum and even sadder the way they try to reassure each other.

5 Common Swift
6 Poplar Grey

Re: CHALKHILL BLUE PUB
I used to live in Harlow Essex and, originally, all of the pubs that were built in the new town were named after butterflies or moths. In addition to the Purple Emperor mentioned above there is, and in some cases was: Orange Footman, Golden Swift, The Shark, The Small Copper, Poplar Kitten, The Whit...

Our Red Valerian today (Bucks) was visited by two Red Admirals, a Peacock and, for the first time since 2009, a Painted Lady.

Re: Plume Moth & Thorny Plant Help Please
It could be Black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) if you do a search on that and add 'thorns' onto it the images seem to match yours. So it looks like you were in the right area.

Re: Black Images
Hi Lee,
I'm not an expert so really can't say for sure. The 'theory' might be worth adapting to your system, but before doing anything I'd back-up what you've got so far in case it makes matters worse.
Hope all works out OK.

Hi Lee,
I'm not sure if this will help or not as I don't know what camera or computer you're using.

This was my favourite Small Copper image from 2013. It was taken in our garden (Bucks), 28th July and was feeding on Miss Willmott's Ghost (Eryngium giganteum).

This is was taken in our garden in Bucks. The brunnera flowers proved very popular with this species.

Re: Holly Blue - Favourite Photo of 2012
This shot was pure luck. I was photographing Peacocks on the Buddleja and knocked one of the Echinops flower stems, this Holly Blue flew up and then settled on the next flower stem along.
