It appeared a paler blue and seemed to lack a distinct black line around the fringes of its wings. Thanks for looking. Sorry, it's not as sharp as would be desired. Rich Unknown blue...

Thanks Davemillerd wrote:That one at least is a male - the abdomen is long (to the edge of the wing border) and the orange lunules on the forewing fade out before the tip. I generally use this as a rule of thumb: seems to work so far.

Possible Yellow Shell
Thanks in advance for looking, and to those who have looked at my previous id posts. I've had a good look at various web sites, and the best shot at this one is Yellow Shell.

Willow Park, Langdon Hills. Plenty of activity despite the heavy showers. About twenty whites, a dozen Ringlet, three meadow Brown, and one each of Comma & Red Admiral. Interestingly, saw the white below displaying an unusual flight pattern. Now, being quite new to this, I thought that the Imago...

Danbury lakes, Essex. About 15 meadow Brown, 10 Ringlet, 6 Small Skipper, 1 Red Admiral, and the White Plume below. Also saw the Blue below, not sure of sex or species. Thought it could be a female Common Blue, or a Brown Argus. Rich White Plume Danbury 3 July 2011.jpg unknown blue.jpg Hi, That is ...

Re: Snout Moth?
Thanks Mike. Until I can get my hands on a reasonably priced, but good, Moth guide I'll record this as a Grass Moth. I've looked on the Uk Moth site ( http://ukmoths.org.uk/index.php ). The problem is that there are hundreds of pictures to trawl through, and with so many species and sub-groups id is...
