Re: Goldie M

Goldie, if you are going back north from Kent at end june it might be worth diverting (a little) to take in Fermyn wood if weather is warm & sunny for the PE's. 2012 they were a bit later but in 2011 I saw them at Fermyn on June 24th but most bf's were earlier that year. Eric

Re: March 2013

My first butterfly of the year today in a quite warm & sunny Norfolk. Brimstone flew along little Ouse @ Thetford while Otter watching. Should anyone want to see Otters, you will never get closer than those @ Thetford & right in middle of town so used to people, around 30 photographers there...

Re: Red dot sight for cameras

Yes I am sure adjustment is needed the closer you are, not sure if I will have to do it as you say by changing point of aim or correctly as per instructions. When used for its original purpose as a gun sight the instructions say to adjust higher/lower or right/left using a provided allen key after a...

Red dot sight for cameras

Last yr I invested in a red dot sight adapted for use in cams hotshoe. Purchased fro Hong kong @ 42US$ delivred. Had a few probs setting it up & still have to fix it so it will not move (might try spot of epoxy). Uses CR2032 battery so no power from hotshoe. Now starting to get used to it & ...

Re: Filtered or unfiltered goldie M

I am another one who agrees with Guy, thankyou for saying that. It seems that people with big dslr's must have a neutral background but but to me the context of the shot counts for just as much. Anyway I could not carry a DSLR even if i could afford one! Eric

Help please ID BF's from Japan

Looking through some old photos I found these few, taken in Japan autumn 2006. We had a fantastic cruise in far east with 6 stops in Japan & toured several famous gardens & these few came into my camera view. I was able to identify the Monarch I found in Taiwan. I seem to have seen the blue/...

Re: Norfolk

I seem to remember a lot of butterflies were early in 2011. On friday 13th May (lucky for us) there were no flowers in bloom in the garden, so Swallowtails had nothing there to necter on. The field next door was covered in yellow flowers & @ 9.30am we had at least 12 Swallowtails all around us.

Re: Any Fish experts? sorry not a BF id Question

Thanks Neil, Chris & Essex Bertie. I did ask the same q on another site & had 2 votes in favour of Tench from that site, so I guess that is what it is. Would not have believed a fish that size was in that pool, must be able to hide well as pool is regularly visited by Cormorants, Herons &...

Any Fish experts? sorry not a BF id Question

Today I watched a comorant grapple with a huge fish it had no chance of swallowing. Ugly looking fish (in fresh water) so thought someone on here might be a fish expert as well as Lep's. 3 photos attached, apologies if out of order with this q. Re: FZ150 replacement announced

Ian, I read the dpreview.com panasonic forum virtually everyother day. Personnally I have seen nothing in the many posts on that forum to make me upgrade from the 150 (I have 2) to the 200. Just a few shots in expert hands have come up to 150 standards in bright light. Concensus seems to be that 200...

Re: September 2012

While spending a couple of hours this morning looking for the Re-brested Flycatcher at Holme NOA, I kept my eye on the Buddleia weyerana (the gold one & very attractive to butterflies). Saw 12-15 White species, 12-15 Red A's, 2 Small Torts, 2 Comma & 1 Painted lady. Those bushes have been co...
