Re: Sigma 150-600 contemporary lens

Hi Ian,

I have the Sigma 150-500, which basically is the predecessor to your lense, used with a 7D Mk II. I have achieved excellent results with this setup even hand-held. Indeed I have sold images via Adobe Stock using this setup so it’s surprising to hear of your disappointment.

Re: More Pyrgus ID Help

Hi Guy. Apologies for the confusion - it's the correct pic just the wrong Subject line

It's the Skipper I'm interested in.

Cheers,

Kevin.

Re: French Alps, 27th June - 15th July 2017

As an addendum (not wishing to steal David's thunder), it wasn't just great for butterflies. Also seen were Chamois, Gryphon Vultures, Red Squirrel, a Golden Eagle, moths and other insects, and a magnificent Snowfinch at the summit of the Col de Lombarde.

Re: Blue ID Help

Thanks Guy. I was a bit thrown by the faint spotting on the rear wings.

A vote of thanks is also due to the local gent who allowed several of us to invade his garden on July 2nd in pursuit of a Southern Comma!

Yes, Heath is a possibility. Personally I'm undecided.

Frit ID Help Needed

I have this one down as a Meadow Frit (parthenoides) but would appreciate expert input. It was taken in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. No upper unfortunately.

Re: Frit ID Help Needed

Having just read Roger's EIG article on identification of Shepherd's and Mountain, I think my image is a Mountain Frit (napaea). A very useful article.
