Re: high brown or dark green?

Are there any other diagnostic features I could look for?
The undersides of HBF and DGF are distinctly different and this is the clearest way of separating the two. I'm no ID expert but I'd go with Mike with High Brown.

Cracking images by Anthony Spencer. Of course he also makes use of one of the great staples of landscape photography, namely lead-in lines. Great stuff.

Re: Photoraph for Appraisal/Advice.

Hi Old Wolf, You’ve captured a nice image. The thing with images is that they are entirely subjective, and this is borne out by Andy’s interpretation of your image and Mike’s subsequent comment that he preferred your original! If there is a camera club near you it might be worth joining as its membe...

There is also an open source application called Darktable. Don’t know anything about it - details at http://darktable.org

Re: Nikon D3400

I'm with Tony on the use of a 105mm macro. I also use a Sigma 105mm coupled with a 1.4x teleconverter, a combination which can yield excellent results.

Re: Canon 6D and Lightroom 2

It’s our local camera club meeting tonight so I’ll ask around to see if anyone is aware of an issue with LR 2 and 6D CR2 raw files.

Re: Canon 6D and Lightroom 2

Hi Ian,

Just guessing here, but I think you may need a more recent version of Lightroom to view your files. The most recent numbered version of LR was 5 and it has now become Lightroom Classic CC. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the responses - Dingies and Grizzlies have been added to the site data and Marshies ignored.

Info needed - Bentley Wood, Hampshire

Whilst working through some site updates I came across a Countryfile article dating back to 2013 listing Bentley Wood as a site to see Dingy and Grizzled skippers and the "odd Marsh Fritillary". Can anyone confirm if these butterflies are still to be seen in Bentley Wood?

Thanks,

Kevin.

Re: Wall – Favourite Photo of 2017

The Wall is definitely one of my favourite butterflies. The image below was taken last May during a stroll around Slapton Ley in South Devon. When I returned via the same route some 45 minutes later the butterfly was still in the same position. Closer inspection revealed it had fallen victim to a cr...

Re: February 2018

There was certainly plenty of activity in Margam Park yesterday of the non-butterfly variety. Ravens were performing their courtship flights, a couple of skylarks were seen plus the herd of Père David’s deer, a large herd of Fallow deer and a small group of Red deer. The view from the highest point ...
