Yesterday at Wheelers Bay,on the Isle of Wight just one Peacock,but later a Painted Lady seen flying along the base of the cliff and a pair of courting Small Tortoiseshell.The latter seem to be more numerous than in the past.Shouldn't be long before a first Clouded Yellow is seen at this location.

I can say that the same Large Tortoiseshell was seen and snapped at the same place in Walters Copse today by a friend.

Today has been the first day of spring as far as the weather goes on the Isle of Wight.So a good display of spring butterflies in Walters Copse at Newtown.three brimstone,males,four Comma,two Peacock.Also I am glad to say a Large Tortoiseshell .Photos will be posted on my PD and Blog.

At Wheelers Bay on the Island I can say that the aftermath of dogs is a serious consideration when looking for Glanvilles in any stage.
